Sister Circle Mental Health Therapist 

Department:  General Counseling, Sister Circle Program 
Job Status: Full-time/40-hours weekly 
Supervisor:  Alyson Davis, Sister Circle Program Director 
Salary/Hourly rate: $47,000-$60,000 annually 
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm; one day per week,12pm-8pm
Primary Office: Main Office, 1101 East High St.
Virtual or In-person: Hybrid, primarily in-person

Position Description 

Job Summary
The Women’s Initiative values team resilience, morale, and performance, and credits our success to the individual efforts of our dedicated staff to execute our organizational goals. The Sister Circle Mental Health Therapist position is responsible for providing individual counseling and support for the Sister Circle program as well as individual counseling to counseling participants across TWI locations and receiving direct referrals. This position is responsible for affirming and enhancing the agency’s partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and providing individual counseling for IRC clients.  

Essential Functions  

  • Provide effective mental health therapy to clients in compliance with appropriate ethics and regulations, primarily utilizing a brief therapy model. 

  • Provide individual psychotherapy, (including walk-in and call-in clinics) and maintain a caseload comprised primarily of Sister Circle and IRC counseling participants. May provide group psychotherapy. 

  • Maintain current documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/digital client charts and handle paper client files in compliance with HIPAA standards and agency policy. 

  • Participate in weekly supervision with clinical supervisor depending on number of hours of work and experience. 

  • Provide effective referrals to community organizations and facilitate applicable follow-up processes to support a continuum of care for clients. 

  • Engage in continuing education and professional development to remain up to date on best practices and licensure. 

  • Attend weekly clinical team meetings and in-house consultation and training.  

  • Adhere to the code of ethics and HIPAA requirements. 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the Sister Circle Program team to deliver high quality compassionate culturally responsive care to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) counseling and program participants.  

  • Establish and promote a working partnership with IRC and provide individual counseling and clinical services to IRC clients.  

  • Engage in community outreach and education on behalf of the agency and Sister Circle program team.  

  • Adhere to all documentation requirements of the counseling program and the staff.  

  • Contribute to a workplace culture that empowers and supports staff members and centers individual and collective wellness. 

  • Occasionally, staff are required to attend agency sponsored events.

Skills and Qualifications  

Competencies 

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about the Black and BIPOC communities, and working with immigrant and refugee cultures   

  • Experience offering individual and group psychotherapy 

  • Knowledgeable and passionate about integration of mind-body approaches in psychotherapy  

  • Team oriented with a strength-based approach to services 

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft office, and Telehealth platforms (Zoom)  

  • Understanding of trauma-informed care approaches and integration of Resilience skills

Skills and Abilities

  • Education:

    • Master’s Degree required.  

    • Post-graduate counseling experience preferred, but not required.  

    • Time management, facilitation, and organizational skills

  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience (can included practicum and/or graduate internship)

PART-TIME BILINGUAL MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST

Job Status: Part-time/[20]-hours weekly

Work Schedule: Hours include Tuesday and Thursday evenings 3-8pm, Wednesdays 9am-5pm

  • Provide individual psychotherapy, (including walk-in and call-in clinics) and maintain a caseload comprised primarily of Bienestar counseling participants. May provide group psychotherapy.

Contract Mental Health Therapist 

Department: General Counseling
Job Status: Contract, up to 5 hours per week

Position Description

The Contract Mental Health Therapist position is responsible for providing individual counseling and support to counseling participants across TWI locations and receiving direct referrals. 

Essential Functions  

Provide individual psychotherapy (with possibility for group psychotherapy)  

  • Maintain current documentation in EMR/client charts in compliance with HIPAA standards and agency policy. 

  • Provide effective referrals to other community agencies and appropriate follow-up to support a continuum of care for clients. 

  • Engage in continuing education to remain up-to-date on best practices and licensure. 

  • Attend weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly supervision with clinical supervisor depending on number of hours of work and experience. 

  • Attend weekly clinical team meetings, in-house consultation, and training depending on number of hours of work and experience.  

  • Adhere to the code of ethics and HIPAA requirements. 

  • On a case-by-case basis, therapist may be asked to do additional administrative tasks, such as write a letter for an immigration case. The supervisor will approve administrative hours that can be billed at $30 per hour rate. 

Additional Responsibilities 

This is a contract position that will require the therapist to submit an invoice to The Women’s Initiative monthly. Therapist is responsible for their own taxes and financial obligations.
