ACTIVITY & Clinical Training VOLUNTEERS

Terry Coffey, Artist and Art curator

Terry is a calligrapher and painter from Charlottesville, Virginia, having earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida. Terry took on the study of calligraphy in the 1980’s, combining the practice with watercolor, gilding in karat gold and other techniques.  She is a member of the Washington Calligraphers Guild and has also been an instructor in the art of calligraphy at Piedmont Virginia Community College as well as privately. Over the years, she has taught calligraphy both privately and at Piedmont Virginia Community College.  In recent years, she has expanded into the study and practice of oil painting and watercolor with the goal of connecting with the viewer through a dramatic sense of light and its interplay with color. Through a career as a therapist and social worker, in addition to being an artist, Terry volunteered for a time as a pro bono therapist with TWI.  As the pull to art took on greater proportions that volunteerism morphed into her current role with TWI as curator of primarily women’s art that graces the halls of the agency rotating each quarter. Terry maintains a studio at home and in downtown Charlottesville. Phone: 434-293-6583; e-mail: terrycoffey@embarqmail.com  website: www.terrycoffey.com
